[Listen] Discover New Rock From Conquer Divide With This In Studio Interview & Performance
Another awesome band stopped by the I-Rock 93.5 studio to just hang out, chat, and perform.
Conquer Divide talked about their growth and evolution as a band, being a female band in the male rock world, the secret sauce to use after a night of singing, and much more. Plus, we were fortunate to have them perform their new hit song "Paralyzed" live for us in the studio.
Meet Conquer Divide
From left to right we've got Izzy on guitar, (Becky from I-Rock), Kia on vocals, (some guy), and Sam on drums.
When the interview started, I really wanted to talk to them about music and what they were doing on the scene. However, when it was pointed out that, for a change, I was the only guy in the room, I had to ask them if it felt like a golden age of females in rock.
"I feel like we've been seeing other female bands and it feels like it's making a comeback." Kia went on to say, "I wish there were more. Hopefully, it stays this way for a long time and it's not just a phase."
Talking more about female bands, Izzy mentioned that when they tour with other female bands they "get more respect" compared to being on tour with male bands when workers at venues assume they are running the merch table.
The band mixes melodic vocals and screaming vocals. Right now on tour, Kia said Spencer is filling in playing bass and doing the screams. Kia said on her rider she has tea and Honey Jack. Good for the night and good for the voice. Just a little pro tip for the next time you are screaming along at a concert.
Conquer Divide has a new"ish" song. The song Paralyzed actually came out 2 years ago on the album "Slow Burn". However, this one is new because it now features Attack Attack.
Having toured with Attack Attack twice they wanted to do a song together at some point and this is the one that worked out to help each other. Kia actually enlightened me about one thing I never thought of. She said when they got Attack Attack that meant Conquer Divide would now show up on their Spotify list. And vice versa for Attack Attack. So the next time you wonder why so many bands are doing songs with other bands, there is your answer. It's all about the algorithm.
Conquer Divide Live Performance of Paralyzed
That is the off-mic camera phone video of the performance. The on-mic performance can be heard below. Plus, you can listen to them describe the meaning behind the song...which I would have never guessed but now makes total sense.
We also talk about the band's evolution and growth, using technology to stay together, and a bit of a tease into what might be next for the band.
