I-Rock 93.5 Talks With Seether’s Dale Stewart – “We’re The World’s Biggest Garage Band”
Dale Stewart has been rocking with Seether for 25 years, but he still gets excited when it's time to go on the road and play in front of fans.
He'll soon be back on the stage as Seether will be on "The Surface Seems So Far" tour for the entire month of May. One stop on that tour will be Cedar Rapids, and we have your way into the show below.
I-Rock 93.5 got to talk with Dale, and while Seether might now be a global band with numerous number-one hits, they still see themselves as "the world's biggest garage band."
No Backing Tracks For Seether
When Seether takes the stage, you'll be hearing Seether. Not Seether's laptop. Dale told us, "We sometimes joke that we are the world's biggest garage band. I feel like we're very unprofessional sometimes, but we're not out here curing cancer. We're playing music, we're trying to have a good time."
Dale said there are a couple of tracks where John (drums) will use a click track to get the song started, but then it shuts off once he has his timing.
When you've been with bandmates for over 20 years, it kind of becomes like a marriage. "You live on a bus together. You share the same space, and there are a lot of things people don't think about. Musical chemistry is important, but what is also important is being able to get along with these guys," said Stewart.
A band this big could easily afford a bus for each member, but Dale said they have one bus for the crew and one bus for all 4 members of the band.
You Can See Seether & This Stacked Lineup From I-Rock 93.5
What will you hear when you see Seether at McGrath Amphitheatre? Dale doesn't know. He told us, "Our setlist is a moving, breathing thing. It's the kind of thing we might change on the night."
The band will play some of their new stuff, like Judas Mind and Walls Come Down, but Dale also knows the fans want the hits from the past 25 years. "We've had so many singles over the years that we can't afford to play too many new songs. The fans come to listen to a snapshot of each album, so we like to take a little bit from each album," he said.
