Kingdom Collapse Join I-Rock 93.5 In Studio For Live Performance & Interview
It's always fun when a band stops by the studio to chat and perform. Kingdom Collapse stopped by on their way through town to perform their new hit song "Survivor", talk about all the touring, more new music, and some wrestling as well.
Kingdom Collapse - Survivor
Kingdom Collapse is one of those bands that got started right around the time of COVID and overcame the challenges to push through, and now is starting to break through with the charted hit "Survivor".
We talked to them about the new song and the video. I had to ask them how much equipment they ruined, as the entire thing is shot in a rain studio that they built in their garage. They said it cost about $200 with supplies from Lowes. "I wouldn't say we picked the cheapest guitars, but we picked the ones we were most ok with being wet. We would shoot a guitar scene and then immediately go dry it off."
Vocalist Jonathan Norris and bassist Aaron Smith have been friends since they were 5. Along with guitarist David Work and drummer Gaston Flores (who was missing from the interview as he was at his sister's wedding, congrats!) the guys said they took the sound of the music they grew up on to create the sound of Kingdom Collapse.
So as Jonathan said, when you listen to them and hear hints of "Korn, Breaking Benjamin, P.O.D., and Taproot," you'll know they grew up on what we grew up on. "In your face hard rock with a metal attitude, metal spirit" is what Jonathan said the elevator pitch for the band would be.

Speaking of in-your-face, the guys talked about their new single "Victorious," which has a tie-in for AEW. The lesson on this song, video, and what more is coming with it: "Those relationships we form, like with Thunder Rosa, it may take a year or two to develop, but we stay in touch," said Aaron. A good lesson in all of life. Stay in touch with people.
We also talked about:
- The writing process of music from plugged-in to acoustic
- Being a rock band from deep Texas
- How they are eating on the road
- And their cover of Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten"
If you are only here to check out the live performance, go to about 13 minutes in on the podcast below and take a listen.
And as always, give the guys a follow. A band on the rise that we'll bring back for all of the Quad Cities to see and hang out with soon.
