[Watch] Chris Daughtry Is Making The Kind Of Music He’s Always Wanted
Chris Daughtry has been making music since before rocking homes across the country on American Idol. Through all the twists and turns the band feels like they are finally in the place they wanted to be.
I-Rock 93.5 was able to talk with Chris about his journey, new music (including him teasing a new video), movies, and more that you can watch and/or listen to below.
From American Idol To Shock To The System (Part 1)
Shock to The System (Part 1) is the first EP which will be released on September 27. It will include the number one hits Artificial and Pieces.
I told Chris when I first saw that their was new Daughtry I expected one thing, but then pushed play and heard another. "It was the number one reason we knew it was the first song to release because it was nothing like we've ever done before. When we wrote Artificial it felt completely unexpected and it has to be the one." Daughtry said, "Sonically it was so exciting for us cause if this works we know what we can do with the rest of this record."
The second half of the project, Shock to the System (Part 2) will come out next year to form "one big body of work" according to Chris who said, "Every artist says this but it's our best work. It's taken us this long to get to this place. To find what feels like our sound and what we've been wanting to do for a very long time."
So, is this where he wanted to be all along? "1000%," says Chris, "This is where I started and it took me taking all these wrong turns to get back to where I was playing heavy loud rock music.
While things are riding high now, I of course had to ask him what's next.
"Something is coming. The video has been shot and I think we've just created the most epic piece of art we've made." I then brought up Falling In Reverse and those epic videos and he said "By the way that is the director I worked with on this video."
So can you sleuth it and figure out what's coming? He did say it was coming soon...so hopefully we won't have to wait too long.
