The Top 69 Songs Of 2024 On I-Rock 93.5

What a year for rock in the Quad Cities.  Thank you for listening all year on the radio, the app, the computer, a smart speaker, wherever it was...thank you.

If you paid attention then you might be able to guess the most played songs of the year.  If you were busy with like work and stuff, then you can take a look at The Top 69 songs here and listen when we count them down.

We'll play the Top 69 on Monday, December 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then again on Tuesday, December 31 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight as we count down to the New Year.

Why The Top 69 Songs?

Well, cause it's funny.  And also it's about how many songs we can fit into 5 hours.

The top 69 songs are not based on national airplay.  This is 100% what we played on I-Rock 93.5.  Some of the songs below may have been hot at the start of the year and then faded.  Or they were just released in the last couple of months.  Or they have been rocking hard all year.  We count all of them and then bring you the Top 69.

69 - Linkin Park - Heavy Is The Crown

Linkin Park was the band of 2024.  It actually started with new songs with Chester Bennington on vocals.  Then in the fall Linkin Park officially came back with a new singer and new music.  Heavy Is The Crown was the second single and while it's number 69 on this list to me it's their best new song.  It just didn't have the time in 2024 to move farther up the list.  You should expect to hear this song plenty more in 2025.

68 - Falling In Reverse - Bad Guy
67 - Daughtry - The Dam

Daughtry was another band that had a great 2024.  The song Artificial was their first number 1 song on the rock charts.  Now the latest song "The Dam" continues to grow as Daughtry has found his place in the world of rock.  LISTEN MORE:  I-ROCK WITH ROCK STARS INTERVIEW WITH DAUGHTRY.

66 - Bad Omens - V.A.N.
65 - Dirty Honey - Won't Take Me Alive
64 - Linkin Park - Friendly Fire

Remember how I said 2024 was the year of Linkin Park?  This was the last new release from the band with Chester on vocals.  Not as rockin' as early LP or even the new version of LP, but always good to hear new stuff from Chester.

63 - Breaking Benjamin - Awaken

This was one of my favorite new songs in 2024.  Breaking Benjamin hasn't said if they will be putting out an EP, a full album, or just continuing the new trend of random singles.  But hopefully, it means more touring and maybe a stop in the Quad Cities.

62 - Blind Channel - Deadzone
61 - Plush - Run
60 - All that Remains - Let You Go

Hey, I remember that night.  It was great to play new stuff from All That Remains leading up to the 5 Freakin' Years of Hard Rock Anniversary Party.

59 - Mammoth WVH - I'm Alright
58 - 10 Years - The Optimist
57 - Green Day - Dilemma
56 - Corey Taylor - We Are The Rest

It wasn't that big of a year for Corey or Slipknot.  But this did well enough for the year to make our list.  Will we get more from them in 2025?  They keep talking about finally releasing "Look Outside Your Window"...so maybe.

55 - Any Given Sin - Dynamite
54 - Bad Wolves - Legends Never Die
53 - Metallica - Screaming Suicide

The Grammy-nominated "Screaming Suicide" was released in 2023, but the band didn't push it to radio until 2024, giving them four number-one songs from the album 72 Seasons. Metallica will be back on the road in the summer of 2025. Will we get more new stuff from them this year?

52 - Dead Poet Society - Running In Circles
51 - Myles Kennedy - Say What You Will
50 - Badflower - Detroit

Detroit was our friends' in Badflower's first Number 1 song on the national rock charts.  This band could be back on tour in 2025 and it would be nice to see them while not standing in boxes.  IYKYK.

49 - Daughtry - Artificial
48 - Saint Asonia - Wolf
47 - Fozzy - Spotlight
46 - Five Finger Death Punch - This Is The Way

Five Finger Death Punch...featuring DMX.  Did you have that one on your 2024 bingo card?

45 - Disturbed - Don't Tell Me

The late winter/early spring of 2024 was the time of the ballad.  There were a LOT of ballads from big-name bands.  Disturbed was one of them...with more coming below.

44 - Pearl Jam - Dark Matter
43 - Godsmack - Truth
42 - Dirty Honey - Don't Put Out The Fire
41 - Alborn - A Little Less Than Expected (Show Me)

It was great to have more new stuff from our friends in Alborn.  Looking forward to seeing them on February 8 at the Redstone Room in Davenport.  Of course, we have your way in right here.

40 - Linkin Park - The Emptiness Machine
39 - The Warning - S!CK
38 - Foo Fighters - The Glass
37 - Billy Morrison & Ozzy Osbourne - Crack Cocaine

I think the goal is for Ozzy to at least put out one song every year for as long as he's kicking.  And that's a good thing.  This was a good song for 2024.

36 - Kittie - We Are Shadows
35 - Offspring - Make It All Right
34 - Dead Poet Society - Hurt

Dead Poet Society is quickly growing as a band across the country.  And when they came to the Capitol Theatre I could tell why.  A great live performance that included the hit song "Hurt".  Also, you can't tell in this picture, but the lead singer...yeah he never misses leg day at the gym.

33 - Shinedown - A Symptom Of Being Human
32 - Sleep Theory - Stuck In My Head
31 - Papa Roach - Leave A Light On

Remember how I told you about all the ballads of early 2024?  Well, here you go...Shinedown at 33 and Papa Roach at 31.  Both are great songs with great messages, just a lot of ballads pushed out early in the year.

30 - Jerry Cantrell - Vilified
29 - Scott Stapp - Higher Power
28 - Motionless In White - Sign Of Life

You might be thinking this is a pretty old song how did it make the list for 2024?  It was released late in 2023 and bled over long enough into the new year to get some big spins.  Then we kept playing it here and there through the rest of the year to carry it to the Top 69.

27 - Nothing More - Angel Song
26 - Poppy - New Way Out

Poppy was in the Quad Cities in 2024 with Avenged Sevenfold.  At the time "New Way Out" was not released and many at the show were not familiar with her.  Now, Poppy is becoming more known in the world of rock with her first big hit on the rock charts.

25 - Black Stone Cherry - When The Pain Comes
24 - Set It Off - Fake Ass Friends

It was great to have the Set It Off guys in the studio with us before rocking the Capitol Theatre.  Very cool guys that have a vision for where they are going.  Expect to hear and see more from them in the future.

23 - Pop Evil - What Remains
22 - Scott Stapp - Black Butterfly
21 - Starset - TokSik

Another one of my favorite songs in 2024.  It's a great song...with great lyrics.  Oh, and thank you for following I-Rock 93.5 on Facebook.

20 - Dorothy - MUD
19 - Architects - Seeing Red

No other radio station in America played this song as much as I-Rock 93.5 because it was "too heavy" for other stations.  It's an absolutely great (and in some cases relatable) song from Architects.

18 - Fame on Fire - Nightmare (The Devil)
17 - The Funearl Portrait - Suffocate City
16 - Seether - Judas Mind
15 - A Day To Remember - Feedback

I was a big fan of this song the second I heard it from ADTR.  Then when we got them to come to the Vibrant Arena it was a way to play it even more.

14 - Atreyu - Gone
13 - Shallow Side - Filters

The third band on the list from the 5 Freakin' Years of Hard Rock Anniversary Party.  It's almost like we promoted that thing.  Anyway, love what the guys did with this song that featured Elias from Nonpoint.

12 - Halestorm - Can U See Me In The Dark
11 - Black Veil Brides - Bleeders
10 - Beartooth - I Was Alive

We start the Top 10 with Beartooth and a song that should have made you say "Yeah I need to get out and do something."

9 - Asking Alexandria - Dark Void
8 - Bring Me The Horizon - Top 10 staTues tHat CriEd blood
7 - P.O.D. - Afraid To Die

It is always great to get new music from 2000s nu-metal bands.  It's even better when it's a really good song.  This one from P.O.D. featuring Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer is a great song and a perfect one to play leading up to the show at The Rust Belt.

6 - Des Rocs - I Am The Lightning

OK, first off...it was a good song.  Second, for any band out there that is cool enough to come to the station and hang out and play that is just brownie points.  And third, when the artist is cool and is great live with just him and his guitar, it goes even further for me.  So I was very happy to play this one from Des Rocs giving him his first top 10 in the country and being on the coveted Top 69 of I-Rock 93.5.

5 - Daughtry - Pieces

There is a theme with the top 5 songs...all bands we rocked with live in 2024.  The I-Rock 93.5 Not So Silent Night with Daughtry was a great way to finish the year of concerts.  READ MORE:  2024 CONCERT YEAR IN REVIEW.

4 - From Ashes To New - Barely Breathing

A band we saw twice in 2024 with their biggest song to date, Barely Breathing finished number 2 on the national active rock charts.

3 - Wage War - Magnetic

The top 3 songs all come from the concert of the year.  There was no doubt leading into the night it was going to be a good one.  Magnetic was Wage War's first number one on the national active rock charts.

2 - Sleep Theory - Fallout

We saw them early in the year and at the end of the year and both performances were fantastic.  We'll see these guys on the Top 69 again in 2025 and maybe we'll see them again live in 2025...I know I'd be down for it.

1 - Nothing More - If It Doesn't Hurt

The number one song of the year on I-Rock 93.5 had just 7 more spins than Sleep Theory helping Nothing More score their first I-Rock 93.5 number one in the Top 69.  An honor I'm sure they'll put in their trophy case.

This was the concert of the year, and this was the song of the year.  It was my favorite song and I was very happy to play it and to continue to play it for a band of great guys and great musicians.
