These Are The Top 69 Songs of 2023 On I-Rock 93.5

It's been a great year for rock in the Quad Cities and we couldn't do it without you.  We had an amazing year of concerts that you can see here.  Now let's look at the top 69 songs of 2023 on I-Rock 93.5.

Why the top 69?  Well, because it's funny.  But also, that's about how many songs I can fit into a 5-hour block.  So you'll be able to hear and follow along with this countdown on Friday, December 29 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  And then again on December 31 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Here are the Top 69 Songs of 2023 on I-Rock 93.5

69 - Saul - A Million Miles

Good to get Iowa's own Saul starting the list with A Million Miles.  The song peaked at 34 on the Billboard charts.

68 - Otherwise - Full Disclosure

67 - Black Veil Brides - Saviour II

66 - Des Rocs - Never Ending Moment

65 - Ghost - Jesus He Knows Me

Was great to have Eva Under Fire in town twice in 2023.  And of course, we've got pictures and the audio from the in-studio interview/performance for you.

63 - Staind - Here and Now

60 - 3 Years Hollow with Morgan Rose - The Other Side

Always good to have new stuff from 3 Years Hollow.  Now, we just need to work to get them on stage in 2024.

57 - Nonpoint - Heartless

Not the last time we'll hear from Nonpoint on this countdown.  Heartless came out in February but there was one more banger that came out before they rocked the 4 year anniversary party.

56 - The Hu - Black Thunder

55 - Falling In Reverse - Watch The World Burn

A lot of other stations would have another Falling in Reverse song from 2023 higher on their list.  Will there be another one on the I-Rock 93.5 top 69?  If you've listened to the station at all...you'll realize...no, this is it.

54 - Nita Strauss with Dorothy - Victorious

53 - Smashing Pumpkins - Beguiled

52 - Through Fire - Lose It

A great song that got us hyped to rock with Through Fire at the 4 Year Anniversary Party.

This song was first played on July 18, 2023.  At that point, we knew Nonpoint was going to rock with us at the anniversary party but we just couldn't tell you yet.

39 - Versus Me - Terrified

Terrified was first played on the station on October 21, 2022.  But the song had lasting power to push it into the early part of 2023 and push it into the top 40 of our most played of 2023.

38 - Beartooth - Migh Love Myself

37 - Dorothy - Black Sheep

36 - Saint Asonia - Devastate

As we were getting ready for Saint Asonia, Theory of a Deadman and Skillet, at The Rust Belt, Saint Asonia released this one on January 25, 2023, giving us a full year of playtime for it to end up at 36 on the chart.

25 - Bad Omens - Just Pretend

22 - Motionless In White - Werewolf

This one was first played on November 4, 2022 (oddly after Halloween) but another one with staying power that you'll hear on the station for many Halloween's and other random days in the future.

21 - Asking Alexandria - Psycho

20 - Skillet - Psycho In My Head

(Totally serious that both "Psycho" songs were back to back and only separated by 7 plays)

19 - Foo Fighters - Rescued

This was a bit surprising as well.  I thought it would take longer for Dave and Foo Fighters to come out with new music after the death of Taylor Hawkins but they surprised me and put out more music in 2023.

18 - Disturbed - Bad Man

17 - Avenged Sevenfold - Nobody

The new stuff from A7X is polarizing.  But they'll play everything from old to new when I-Rock 93.5 presents Avenged Sevenfold on March 18 at The Vibrant Arena.

16 - Papa Roach - Cut The Line

15 - Bad Omens - The Death Of Peace Of Mind

Bad Omens could be considered the breakout band of the last few years.  When we saw them at The Rust Belt they opened for Ice Nine Kills.  Now Bad Omens is selling out venues that size across the country.  Just proves again to be at the show in time to see the openers.

14 - From Ashes To New - Nightmare

13 - Godsmack - Soul On Fire

12 - Alborn - Push

The first song for Alborn to reach the top 40 on the Active Rock Billboard chart.  "Push" highlighted their 2023 EP release as the guys continue to grow musically for us in the Quad Cities and around the country.  You still have the lucky chance to see them in a small venue.  January 13, Redstone Room in Davenport.  I-Rock 93.5 Holiday Hangover.  Don't get shut out.

11 - Disturbed - Unstoppable

10 - Ayron Jones - Blood In The Water

Kicking off the top 10 of the 69 most played songs of 2023 is Ayron Jones.  Somebody who has been requested numerous times to perform live in the Quad Cities.  We would love that too.

9 - Sleep Theory - Numb

8 - Corey Taylor - Beyond

This one from CMF2 was first played on May 16, 2023.  Everything in the Top 10 first started in the early part of the year.  That is how it gets enough time to get the spins to make it to the top of the illustrious Top 69.

7 - Pop Evil - Skeletons

6 - Metallica - 72 Seasons

5 - Shinedown - Dead Don't Die

Shinedown fire up the top 5 with a song that was first heard on January 20, 2023, giving it all year to play on I-Rock 93.5.

4 - Staind - Lowest In Me

There was some surprise new music from Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, and Metallica in 2023.  Another surprise came with new music from Staind.  It was the band's first new music in 12 years and sounded like what you would expect from the nu-metal veterans.

3 - Sevendust - Everything

This was my favorite song of 2023.  I'm typically a fan of everything Sevendust does, but this one hit just right from them.  The song from "Truth Killer" reached number 6 on the national Billboard charts making it their highest charting single ever.  Excited to see this one live and all the rest they'll do on December 30 at The Rust Belt.

2 - I Prevail - Deep End

The top two songs on the top 69 both came out in January and had plenty of time to play throughout 2023.  And with I Prevail playing the Vibrant Arena this one stayed on the top of the playlist for almost 5 months.

1 - Avatar - The Dirt I'm Buried In

The song of the year came from the concert of the year.  The song first played on I-Rock 93.5 on January 6, 2023, giving it all year to easily be the most played.  But there were a lot of factors that added to it being the most played.

1. It is a good song.
2. We were bringing them to town.
3. As I-Rock 93.5 is one of a handful of stations that count towards the national billboard charts, every time we play a song it counts for a band on the chart.  While this song started in January and then started playing more in April, it stayed on the top of the rotation for 5 months as we helped push it to become Avatar's first number-one song in the country.
