It's been a while since we had the guys make the drive down from Wisconsin, and since the last time they played, they've been releasing a lot of new songs and getting booked at some major festivals.
So before they come down to rock the Quad Cities, we talked with James about new music, touring, and if he can bring me Spotted Cow and Cheese Curds...you know, the important stuff. The audio and video are below.
Versus Me
The last time Versus Me came to town was in December of 2022. Seems like forever ago! But since then, Versus Me has grown as a young band.
James said, "I feel like we dialed in more of the sound that we wanted to do. Ever since our last album, it's just been the singles game. And I feel like with that, we can dive into each song and give it more thought process."
Through the conversation, we talked more about singles and albums, and James definitely is leaning into the singles. But he does say, "We were at a show a couple of months ago, and a kid asked their parents, 'dad what's that?'...and it was the CD." That's a kick to the groin for us "olds".
Versus Me In The Quad Cities and Always Online
James loves the music video process. He said another great thing about doing singles is that nearly every song can get a video with it. Most songs on albums typically don't.
He said that he formulates the plot, and "even while we are writing songs, I can envision what the music video will entail." James told me.
He also added that "sometimes my vision is bigger than my budget".
As Versus Me grows in popularity, the budget will grow as well. So get ready for bigger videos filled with explosions
See Versus Me Before The Popularity Goes To The Next Level
Versus Me will be at Rock Fest and Inkcarceration this year, and I expect them to keep growing to bigger tours and bigger stages very soon. Which is why it's awesome we can see them on a smaller stage for just $16. Get your tickets here before it's too late.
