This spring, Bush will be back in the Quad Cities for the first time in 8 years.

With the show coming to town on May 5, I was able to talk with frontman Gavin Rossdale about career, touring, new music, old music, and, of course, some randomness.

For much of the interview, I was just mesmerized by the voice and the accent.  But luckily, I got the first important question in with an encouraging answer.

Yes, the lead singer of Bush with all those hits, and the first question I ask is "Will Balthazar be back for a Constantine 2?"  I'm a nerd.  But it's such a good movie.

Gavin didn't shy away from it.  He said, "I've become annoying because I heard three years ago they were doing a sequel.  So I've been writing the director once a year, saying, 'Hey, what's going on with the movie?'

"It's not me, it's management," said Gavin.  It really was fun talking with him.  He's just having fun.

But after spending a LOT of 2025 on the road, they will be heading back out in 2026, and Gavin said, "The shows have gotten so good, and the set has been so fun that we just want to share that with people."

In 2025, they toured the world.  This year, they'll be staying closer to home with a shorter run.

So does that mean a set setlist?  "We never do the same set twice.  I play what we need to play, but I change it every night."

But even with that constant change, Gavin doesn't get nervous.  Unless it was for someone else, he played at Chester's memorial concert and for David Bowie, and those performances got him nervous.

A few of the questions I asked Gavin came from I-Rock 93.5 listeners.  Like the one from our ticket winner, Nikki, who asked, "Will you marry me?"

Also, from listener Cody, I asked him how he stays fit.  Gavin said, "A lot of tennis."  I didn't realize how much he really meant that until I started looking for pictures of him.  There are a LOT of pictures of him playing tennis.

Bush will be in the Quad Cities on May 5, and Gavin says, "I want to steal people's hearts and minds" with the show.  Look forward to seeing you there.

Gavin also told an amazing story about a fireman and Bush's music, how the songwriting process changed over his 30 years, and some of his favorite songs from their vast library.
