To Celebrate Our Two Year Anniversary Today, We Have A New Limited Edition Shirt
Today we officially celebrate 2 years of hard rock in the Quad Cities. Yes, the party will be Friday...cause nobody wants to party on a Monday...but the station officially turned 2 years old at 11am today.
Back to that party real quick, if you don't know what is going on, check out the details here as this Friday (Sept 3) we will be at Riverview Roadhouse in Le Claire for a free show with four bands and piles of giveaways. Can't wait to see you there.
It was May of 2019 that the boys from corporate came to town and I pitched them this idea. I told them why it was needed and why it would work in the Quad Cities. I also told them that if they f with it and give me some bull crap "safe list" it wouldn't work. Shockingly, a month later they said, "OK. Put it together and go for it."
I really didn't think it was going to happen. Even during the summer of 2019 when I was working on the name, the logo, the music, the little pieces of audio that play between the music. I figured at some point they would pull the plug before it ever started. But it just kept coming together. I think ultimately they thought it wouldn't do anything. It would just be a little side project here at Townsquare Media Quad Cities. Well, you proved them so very wrong.
Two years later and you guys have put this thing on the top of the radio mountain. Plus all the app downloads, social likes, events, concerts...hard rock lives in the Quad Cities and I can't thank you enough.
Now onto that new shirt I made. As you may remember, I-Rock 93.5 was out at the Mississippi Valley Fair 12 hours a day for all 6 days of the fair. We gave away a lot of stuff. But at one point, somebody carrying a different radio station shirt walked by. I upgraded his shirt. But what to do with the scraps. Throw it away? Nah, it's still a perfectly usable shirt. It just needed a new design.
And with this new shirt design, we officially kick off our Terrible Twos. Thank you for keepin it hard with us.
