Worlds and bodies collided at The Rust Belt when Powerman 5000 rocked the Quad Cities.

The bodies were much rowdier than I thought they would be in the pit.  The worlds colliding would be the opening bands which were definitely different than the nu-metal of PM5K.  You can see pics of all of them below.

Becky in Black called it "the weirdest thing she has seen on the stage at The Rust Belt".  But I still remember a one-hit-wonder dressed as a chicken and a beaver.  That still has to be the strangest for me.

Priest, former members of Ghost from Sweden, were definitely different.  Electronic and fully masked they got the night started with what seemed a bit like a S&M party.

Julien-K

While this was still very electronic, it had more of that nu-metal rock feel.  Speaking of that Nu-Metal Madness tour with the Chicken and the Beaver, it wasn't that long ago that the lead singer of Julien-K was at The Rust Belt.

The lead singer of Julien-K is Ryan Shuck who is also the current lead singer of Adema and is a former member of Orgy.  The highlight of their set was definitely when they finished off with Blue Monday.

I was hopeful that Powerman 5000 was going to be everything I remember from the early 2000s.  But, we know how time goes.  Happy to say, they were everything and more.

Right from the start they got the crowd moving and jumping.  They played all the hits that everybody knows and wants to sing along with.  And the energy from the band and crowd kept going for the entire set.

Spider was energetic and connected to the crowd.  The rest of the band sounded tight and roamed the stage like they owned it.

If/when Powerman 5000 comes back to The Rust Belt, don't miss them.  It took me right back to the height of nu-metal in all the good ways.

Enjoy all the pictures from all the bands below and we will see you at the next show at The Rust Belt with Pop Evil and Eva Under Fire on August 15.
