The Future Of Rock Will Be At The QC Rock Academy Summer Kickoff Concert
The future of rock in the Quad Cities is in good hands. With all the live music venues, area bands, schools, and programs to teach the next generation of rock, we will continue to watch the music scene in the Quad Cities grow.
A great way to enjoy some of these musicians of the future is happening now thanks to the QC Rock Academy and their free Summer Kickoff Concert at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island.
The QC Rock Academy
For over a decade, the QC Rock Academy has been a place for kids to learn how to play and love music. They teach individual students and have built bands that learn and grow together taking their music past the academy.
Schwiebert Riverfront Park
A gem of a park in the Quad Cities. Schwiebert Riverfront Park is located on 1st and 17th Street in Rock Island with plenty of parking at the park or across the street between 17th and 18th.
The park has a perfect bandshell and grass to enjoy the show. Plus, playground equipment is on the other side of the park for the little ones to burn some energy.
Bring a lawnchair or a blanket or just lay in the grass to enjoy the evening. Also, keep an eye on the weather. Whatever KWQC says the temps will be, minus 5 degrees by the river. So maybe toss a hoodie in the car.
Summer Kickoff Concert 2024
The 4th annual Summer Kickoff Concert will take place on Saturday, May 18th from 4:00-9:00 pm.
Eight student bands will be performing plus a handful of solo artists opening the show. Anthropoid, Made Ya Look, 7 Ark, Impossible Wonder, Nonetheless, Hartwood, Mercury’s Crown, and FaceCarver will all be on stage.
While there, the Rock Island Parks Department will be grilling up food, plus there will be drinks on site for those looking to enjoy an adult beverage.
We'll see you at the park for a great FREE and ALL AGES show to kick off summer in the Quad Cities!
