The 2020 Grammy Award Voters Need To Be Inoculated
The 2020 Grammy Award nominees have been announced. And the people who voted for this years finalists should all be beaten with a blunt tool. Not literally of course. But they should all be forced to actually listen to Tool on a loop so they all realize how great of an album Fear Inoculum is and why they need to be cleansed from the pop world.
Here are the nominees for album of the year.
- I,I
Bon Iver - NORMAN F***ING ROCKWELL!

Billie Eilish - THANK U, NEXT
Ariana Grande - I USED TO KNOW HER

Lil Nas X - CUZ I LOVE YOU (DELUXE)

Here are the nominees for record (song) of the year.

Billie Eilish - 7 RINGS
Ariana Grande - HARD PLACE
H.E.R. - TALK
Khalid - OLD TOWN ROAD

So where is Tool? Well, they are nominated in the best metal performance category (kind of odd fit) for 7empest and in the best rock song category for Fear Inoculum. But that is it.
An album described by many critics as one of the best albums of all time. Songs that knocked the mighty Taylor Swift off the top of the Billboard charts. A band that can sell out arenas in minutes. And this is what we get. Ariana, Lizzo and Lil Nas X with f'n Billy Ray Cyrus.
You're telling me the 90 second song Old Town Road is a BETTER SONG than Fear Inoculum. SMFH.
It's not like this is new territory for Tool. They have been nominated and won Grammy's in the past. Winning for Best Metal Performance for AEnema and Schism and Best Recording Package for 10,000 Days. Just like those times, they are keeping rock in the rock/metal categories and not letting us rock fans breakthrough to the overall album/recording of the year.
People talk about rock music dying. It's not. We've proven that with stations like I-Rock 93.5. It's proven by Tool taking over the music charts in 2019. It's proven by every giant rock festival that will take place over the summer with thousands of people driving hundreds of miles to see their favorite band. However, as long as the "industry" continues to overlook masterpieces like Fear Inoculum the overall perception of rock music dying will continue.
While I'm sure Maynard could care less about a trophy from a bunch of snobs at the Gammy's, I will care and continue to rock and make sure those snobs know what they're missing. I know you will too.
