I am terrible when it comes to understanding lyrics.  "My Sharona".  More like "My Scarotum".

With some of our songs on I-Rock 93.5, it can be even harder to understand when they add in well-timed, and much-needed screams.

This is why when there is a song I really like I head over to Genius.com to check out the lyrics.  My new favorite on I-Rock 93.5 came with lyrics and the meaning of the song, and now I like it even more.

The song was released on December 4th, 2023 and I instantly liked it.  I started playing it even though "it's not a radio song" and is only being played by two radio stations in the country—us and one that doesn't totally blow from Madison, Wisconsin.

Before giving you the meaning, check out the lyrics here.

[Intro]
Rent-free living in your head
"R.I.P.," they commented
I felt it when they said
"We only ever love you when you're seeing red"
Blegh
Seeing red

[Verse 1]
You oughta know that I'm like a broken machine
I'm not as bulletproof as you all paint me to be
Time hasn't frozen, why do you want me to scream?
Are you a junkie punk, medicating for free?

[Refrain]
We're all you need
We'll make you royalty
We'll be the best of enemies

[Chorus]
Read mе all my rights
I'll never grow tired of your grеat advice
Won't somebody tell me what I believe?
I'm sorry for your sacrifice
I guess I must've sounded like the antichrist
Won't somebody tell me
Won't somebody tell me
What I believe?

[Verse 2]
No debts, all love, I don't give a fuck
My head, my heart wouldn't be enough
I won't think twice
I'm afraid I'm the priest, you're the poltergeist
We're like one big family
Gee, thanks so much for the death threat
Do you hear the audacity?
You dummies only live on the internet

[Refrain]
We're all you need (Oh yeah? That's right)
We'll make you royalty (Gimme that gold)
We'll be the best of enemies

[Chorus]
Read me all my rights
I'll never grow tired of your great advice
Won't somebody tell me what I believe?
I'm sorry for your sacrifice
I guess I must've sounded like the antichrist
Won't somebody tell me
Won't somebody tell me
What I believe?

[Breakdown]
Oh
"Are you happy now?"
Rent-free living in your head
"R.I.P.," they commented
I felt it when they said
"We only ever love you when you're seeing red"

[Bridge]
Heaven burning bright
You've really gotta wonder how I sleep at night
Won't somebody tell me?
Won't somebody tell me?

[Chorus]
Read me all my rights
I'll never grow tired of your great advice
Won't somebody tell me what I believe?
I'm sorry for your sacrifice
I guess I must've sounded like the antichrist
Won't somebody tell me
Won't somebody tell me
What I believe?

[Outro]
What I believe
What I believe
(All eyes on me)
What I believe

What Does It Mean?

The song is very specific to the band.  Again, according to Genius.com;

“The song talks about the struggles the band goes through with “fans” claiming that the band is not heavy enough and saying they’re only good when they are “seeing red” and making music that is angsty and hateful.

That made the song so much better.  And while we can't relate to fans not liking us because we're not heavy enough, you can still fit those same lyrics into your life.

Think about all the people who have you "living rent-free in their heads".  Or how about the "I'll never grow tired of your great advice" line?  If you are on social media, you've got unwanted awful advice at some point.

Now that you know the lyrics take another listen to the song below.  And turn it up loud when you hear it on I-Rock 93.5 so the trolls can hear you even more.

Trivium & Beartooth at The Rust Belt in East Moline

Trivium, Beartooth, Malevolence and Archetypes Collide rocked the Rust Belt on June 2 and now you can clearly see what it looked like through the sweat and pits.
