This Week’s I-Host Came All The Way From New York To Rock With You
Every week I-Rock 93.5 gives you the keys to the station. You get to pick the music and host the hour Friday nights at 6:00 p.m. Basically, you do our job for us. Thanks. If you want to host your own hour, sign up here.
Who are you?
My name is Chuck and I’m the world’s biggest Metallica fan. I live in New York City with my wife and two kiddos, but I grew up on a farm outside of a town of about 150 people in northeast Kansas.
Why do you love hard rock?
I’ve been thinking about this question for a while and I don’t have a crystal clear answer. I guess hard rock has just always sort of been part of my life’s soundtrack. Any chance I had to go see a band live in concert only deepened my love for the music.
Who is your favorite band?
Metallica. No question about it. That’s an easy one. I’ve seen them around 15 times all over the country, from huge festivals to small clubs. I was lucky enough to be at their 40th-anniversary gigs in 2021 which was epic. In my book, it doesn’t get any better than Metallica. And yeah, I’ll even defend St. Anger. Fight me.
Best concert?
It’s tough to pinpoint one, and as you might guess, I could name a couple of Metallica shows that were absolute game changers for me. But one of the best hard rock shows I’ve ever been to was Ozzfest 2004 in Kansas City. I got to see Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, which ruled, but the real life-changing experience was the second stage. Slipknot headlined the second stage with other bands like Lamb of God, Hatebreed, Atreyu, Unearth, God Forbid, and many others. My buddies and I got there way before the gates opened and sprinted to the second stage so we could be front row. To see Slipknot in a setting like that was incredible.
