The Forty Twos are back with more new music (as heard on I-Rock 93.5) and a new video, as seen below.

You could use a little "Peace of Mind"

"Peace of Mind" has been a song The Forty Twos have been performing live for quite some time going back to the summer of 2021 when they performed at Riverview Roadhouse for our summer concert series and 2-year anniversary party.

While the guys have been performing it for a while, getting into the studio to record it just the way they wanted always takes some more time.  The song you can hear below is the final, final version of the song.  But, you may have heard earlier in September a slightly different version on I-Rock 93.5.  While it wasn't quite done, we just can't help ourselves and wanted to play it for you.  But now it's fully done for you to enjoy.

The making of "Peace of Mind".

Ryan Housenga, the lead singer of The Forty Twos, tells I-Rock 93.5 that this song was written during Covid. He said, "At a moment of slight panic I was thinking about the world coming to a halt. I selfishly thought about all I was missing out on. Working so hard for so long to have the world suddenly stop was a hard pill to swallow. If I’m being honest it still kinda lives in my head rent-free. I did, however, see the loss was shared. Businesses closed, people lost loved ones and nobody knew when it was gonna be over. That put things in perspective!"

Ryan says that when that song came together the opening lyrics set the tone. Then the rest just kind of spilled out of his mouth.

"The song touches on relationships, work life, and feeling like you have to filter everything you say because you don’t want to hurt somebody. The vibe is slight panic attack mixed with brief moments of clarity," says Ryan.

Check out the lyrics for "Peace of Mind"

I could use a little peace of mind,
But first here’s just a little peace of mine
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

HEY!

Surrounded by the ones that I love
But I can’t even pick up the phone
Tired of holding on
Fingertips are all but gone

Tired of feeling numb
I lost my heart when I was young
Am I just another victim of
The disease that split of dad and mom

I could use a little peace of mind,
But first here’s just a little peace of mine
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

Washed out like the bottles that you buy
Recycled thoughts are so easy to find
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

Can’t find a job to make enough
Cuz rock n roll doesn’t pay these days
So I break my back cleaning houses that
The government takes away

I could use a little peace of mind,
But first here’s just a little peace of mine
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

Washed out like the bottles that you buy
Recycled thoughts are so easy to find
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

It meant so much more when we were young
Running from the shadow that was cast by the sun
Learn to let go of hate because
You’re not as strong as you were
As you were

Oh It meant so much more when we were young
Running from the shadow that was cast by the sun
Learn to let go of hate because
You’re not as strong as you were
As you were my son

I could use a little peace of mind,
But first here’s just a little peace of mine
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

I could use a little peace of mind,
But first here’s just a little peace of mine
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young

Washed out like the bottles that you buy
Recycled thoughts are so easy to find
Tired of holding my tongue
Say it with your chest we’re young
