Toby Keith has shared that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall. This difficult piece of news was shared with fans on Sunday, June 12th. This news was hard for many fans and casual listeners alike. Keith remains optimistic about his prognosis.

While it's not easy, many venues are now looking for replacements for upcoming shows. The Mississippi Valley Fair is doing the same.

The Fairgrounds reps stated,

As you may have heard, Toby Keith has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. All of us at here at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds pray for a speedy recovery and can't wait to welcome you back to our stage when the time is right.

Many comments share the same love and best wishes to the artist. Some are asking who might replace the country star, and as of now, only time will tell. Toby Keith was set to perform on August 7th.

Though he's taking a step back from his career to attend to his health, the singer said that he plans to be back on stage performing for his fans as soon as he can.

I am looking forward to spend this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can't wait," he added in the conclusion of his statement.
