The Definition Of Dad Rock

According to Oxford Languages, Dad Rock is "rock music that appeals to an older generation, or that is heavily influenced by that of an earlier era."

Others would say it's rock that gets dads up from the recliner to start awkwardly dancing.

However you want to define it, some of the biggest rock bands fall into the Dad Rock category.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said, “You know the whole dad rock thing? We're totally dad rock. First of all, we are all dads, and you're right, we're a rock band.

Add in bands like Shinedown, Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daughtry, 3 Doors Down, Creed, and more, and Dad Rock is alive and well.

As the younger rockers become dads some people try to add bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Korn...yeah, they are all dads.  But no...just no.  Dad rock is not only an age it's a sound and vibe. A vibe...that sounds like this looks.

Skillet, Theory of a Deadman and Saint Asonia at the Sold Out Show at The Rust Belt

It was an incredible night with a few thousand friends at The Rust Belt with Skillet, Theory of a Deadman, and Saint Asonia. The sold-out show rocked from front to back. And if you were standing in the back enjoying the sound and sites, but wondered what they would look like if those sites were closer, here are some great shots from Captured by Lorraine.
