Question one - Who are you?

My name is Steve. I'm from Upstate New York originally and joined the Marine Corps right out of High School. Met my wife in the Marines and stayed in for 8 years. Our last station was out in San Diego, CA. After I got out, I was a San Diego Police Officer for about 4 years while my wife went to school for Dental Hygiene. Moved to the QC in 2017 because my wife was originally from Davenport. I went to St. Ambrose University and earned my teaching degree for High School History. I am currently teaching at United Township Education Center and love every minute of it.

Question two - Why do you love hard rock?

I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, AC/DC, Ozzy, and all the good classic hard rock groups and loved them. I remember walking through a Walmart entertainment section when I was a kid and saw an Ozzfest CD that had a gargoyle on the front. I bought it and loved every song on it. After that, I started getting into Mudvayne, Korn, Metallica, all sorts of heavier rock. My parents bought me a bass guitar to play in the school's jazz band and I remember listening to Slipknot in my room with the bass amp turned to the max playing along and jamming. Since then, rock has helped me through some rough times and good times. I can't listen to anything else when I am working out or when I was in college studying. Plus it's great to crank up and just rock out to.

Question three - Who is your favorite band/artist?

My favorite all-time artist is Heilung. They are a Nordic folk group that sing/chant in Old Norse and sing about the gods and life with super dark undertones. As far as rock group, I'd definitely have to go with Lamb of God. They groove and rock at the same time as well as produce an awesome product every time they get an album out.

Question four - What is the best concert you've ever seen?

The best concert I have ever seen was an underground concert in San Diego at a place called Soma San Diego. Me and a few buddies bought some tickets, went to the store right across the street to get some tall boys and met the main headliners (Carnifex) for the concert we were about to see in the checkout line. We drank those things (coffees of course...) before going in and jumped right in the pit. When Carnifex came on stage, they were awesome! I was able to jump on stage and rock out with them for a bit and jumped right back into the mosh pit.

N.I.B. - Black Sabbath
Hope Dies with the Decadent - Carnifex
Battery - Metallica
Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden
Dig - Mudvayne
Now You've Got Something to Die For - Lamb of God
Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid- Led Zeppelin
