It's been a while since I've been in the dating scene.  I've been lucky enough to be with my wife for coming up on 20 years so I didn't ever have to deal with online dating or god forbid...dating apps.

But I'm guessing the rules are ABOUT the same.

If you’re dating someone new, or you simply want to make sure that your first date with someone goes smoothly, it’s important to remember some of the unspoken rules of first dates. Paying attention to these rules doesn’t mean you have to come across as aloof or indifferent—but it does mean you can ensure that the time you spend with your date is positive and memorable.

So, I Googled ideas for a first date and found this:

Be Prepared

There’s nothing wrong with preparing for a first date. Start by researching your potential match to make sure you’re on similar levels (i.e., you share some common interests and goals). Next, set clear expectations with your date about how far you’re willing to go – everything from kissing and touching to spending money on dinner and drinks – and then stick to those rules.

Act Naturally

Going on a first date is nerve-wracking enough without adding unnecessary pressure. Follow these unspoken rules to ensure you’re having fun and lowering your stress levels. Do yourself a favor and relax; you’re supposed to be meeting someone new and having a good time, not conducting an interrogation or applying for a job.

Have Fun!

Going on a first date should be enjoyable, don’t bring up anything that might scare them off. You want to have a good time and let them know you're a good person. Treat your date to an activity they enjoy and just have fun!

This guy apparently doesn't know any rules about dating because he broke them all.

A woman on TikTok shared her first date "horror story" where she met up with a guy that ordered 100 tacos and made her pay.  Here's Elyse Myers sharing her insane story.
