Kate Has An Awesome Playlist Ready To Rock You Into The Weekend
Question one - Who are you? Hi, I’m Kate Meyer. I am a Quad Cities native. I'm married to Andrew Meyer and dog mom to our Cane Corso, Sasha. I work for the Rock Island County Health Department as Manager of Emergency Planning and Response. You may have met me at one of our many COVID-19 vaccination clinics. I help plan and organize these clinics, as well as organize our Medical Reserve Corps volunteers who assist us with staffing them. (I want to shout out to all of my coworkers and volunteers, who have been amazing! We couldn’t have done it without you!) These last two + years of COVID-19 response have been hell! Hopefully, we are on track to our new normal, whatever that may be. In the meantime, rock will get us through!
Question two - Why do you love hard rock? I have always liked hard rock and heavy metal. I was introduced to rock by my father, who always played the Beatles in the car when we traveled for vacations. He introduced me to the Doors, Pink Floyd, as well as Black Sabbath, which he had on 8-track. (HAHA). I have such great memories of my brother, Matt and I rocking out to Nirvana’s Teen Spirit and Metallica’s Master of Puppets. My love of Rock and Metal was also one of the things that brought my husband Andrew and I together. We still love going to concerts together after 20 years of marriage.
Question three - Who is your favorite band/artist? That is a hard question. I like so much! When I was a kid, I loved Aerosmith, but as my tastes grew with age, I now rock out to Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Tool, Slipknot, Korn, Metallica, and more. It is too hard to just pick one.
Question four - What is the best concert you've ever seen? Nine Inch Nails in Orlando, circa 1994 was incredible. Of course, Slayer, with Primus, Ministry, and Phil Anselmo and the Illegals 2019 at the TaxSlayer was awesome. But, I think the best ever, was Chris Cornell’s last concert here in the Quad Cities at the Adler Theater, 2015. He just did an amazing job. It was soulful. You could literally feel his emotions.
