My name is Rachal Deahl. I am a native of Davenport. I graduated from the University of Iowa and returned home to work on the Rock Island Arsenal.

For as long as I can remember music has been a major presence in my life. I remember listening to Janis Joplin, Tina Turner and Rod Stewart cassettes with my mom in her red Mustang. My dad introduced me to so many genres of music from an early age but Rock has always been my favorite.  Bill Peiffer, from the local band Lynn Allen is my uncle so I’ve always felt a connection to the local music scene.

In my early teen years you could find me at Off Limits on Friday nights! I’ll never forget running up those stairs, storming the dance floor when you heard the first notes of Manson’s Beautiful People and the energy of the people who like me, felt like we finally found our place and a sense of belonging. I would not be who I am without Rock music!

I cannot pick one favorite band/artist. But top 3 would have to be:
Dave Matthews Band
Tool
311

I love going to concerts so again, it’s difficult to pick one! Most memorable:
Dave Matthews Band- Palmer Auditorium ‘95
Tool-The Mark -‘02
311- Col Ballroom ‘00
Jean Luc Ponty- Chicago City Winery ‘17
