A Special 5-Year Edition Of I-Host With All Your I-Rock Hosts
It was 5 years ago today that I-Rock 93.5 became a "thing" in the Quad Cities. When it first became a thing nobody knew what type of thing it would become. But because of you, it has become a monstrous thing that has taken over the Quad Cities and has done things no other Townsquare Media radio station could. And we're not done yet.
While I've told the story countless times I will give you the short version here. It was April of 2019 when I pitched the idea to corporate for a hard rock station. 93.5 was broadcasting sports and 1170 AM was playing classic country. I said we could move sports to the AM and let me do my thing on 93.5. I truly think they thought "Whatever, the signal isn't doing anything now so he can't make it any worse and it will keep him happy while he works on the other stations in the Quad Cities".
Well after I spent 4 months planning everything from the name, to the logo, to the tagline, to the music, to the guy that talks between the songs, and much more...Hard Rock for the Quad Cities, I-Rock 93.5 was born on August 30, 2019.
I'll be honest, when I launched this thing I had hopes, but I never imagined it would become what it is today. We are a hard rock station that does things differently from anybody in the country and you've put us on the top of the QC radio mountain for the last 5 years. And I thank you for that every single day.
But I don't, and you shouldn't take it for granted. Radio is a fickle friend. So keep rocking, keep showing up, keep spreading the word and we'll keep doing everything we can to rock and have a good time with you!
There are a lot more details to that story but you want to get to the point of the special edition of "I-Host".
Normally I-Host is hosted by you. The important I-Rock Hard Unit. But for this week, we've got all the voices you hear on I-Rock 93.5 to host an hour and get your weekend started right. If you want to pick your own music and host your own hour then sign up here.
