Do You Live In One Of The Most Trusting Towns In Wisconsin?
30When you leave the house do you check the doors 10 times to be sure they are all locked? When you are gone do you panic that you might have forgotten to close the garage door? There are still a few cities out there that actually trust people enough to leave the house with the doors unlocked.
While Wisconsin is "Midwest Nice" that doesn't apply to everyone or everywhere. In fact, there are only two cities in Wisconsin that are this trustworthy. Which at least is more than Iowa, but somehow less than Illinois.
America's Most Trusting Cities
A recent survey of cities across America uncovered which ones will still leave the house for a family picnic and leave the doors unlocked.
"Through our comprehensive study, we've uncovered that the spirit of community trust is still very much alive in certain American towns," says smart home expert Marty Spargo of AutomateLife.net. "These places stand as testaments to the possibility of a society where people feel secure enough to leave their doors unlocked. It's a remarkable reflection of the local commitment to safety and neighborliness in today's fast-paced world."
The top 5 cities look like this:
- Hollister, California (Gotta be honest, wasn't expecting any California cities on the list.)
- Madison, Mississippi (Definitely not going to find Madison, Wisconsin on this list.)
- New Braunfels, Texas
- Owatonna, Minnesota (Would expect more "Midwest Nice" cities on the top of this list.)
- Barnstable, Massachusets
The Towns In Wisconsin Where People Feel Safe Enough To Leave Doors Unlocked
While there may be some small farm communities and backwood cabins that feel safe leaving doors unlocked, only two larger cities made the list of cities trusting enough to leave their home with the door open.
Coming in at number 36 is Mequon, Wisconsin. The "farthest North" suburb of Milwaukee apparently is a place where neighbors trust neighbors and homeowners don't expect people to drive up from the city to rob their house.
And just making the top 60 at number 59 is Waukesha, Wisconsin. The "farthest West" suburb of Milwaukee apparently feels the same as their neighbors to the North.
So if you want to live in a city close to the big city yet also feel safe enough to leave your doors unlocked, these are the places to check out in Wisconsin.
