Own This One Of A Kind Truck Being Sold By A Town In Iowa

When people bid on things, it's typically for auction or it's a collector's item. A town in Iowa is selling a piece of equipment for neither of those things. Maybe someone will consider a one-of-a-kind truck a collector's item, but that's an expensive collection. Let's just say this item is something your childhood self would have loved to own and drive.

When you were a kid, you probably wanted to be a police officer, doctor, or even a firefighter. If fighting fires was a childhood dream because you got to use the big hose or drive the truck, you could fulfill that dream by placing a bid on a fire truck being sold by the City of Camanche, Iowa.

Camanche is selling a fire truck? For real?

Yep. In a social media post on March 9th,  the City of Camanche said they are accepting bids for a fire truck. You know, the thing that gets driven around by firefighters to put out fires, get cats out of trees, and block traffic for ambulances.

I have you intrigued, don't I? Here is the description of the Ladder-Truck:

1978 Seagrave 50-foot Tele-Squirt. This truck currently has 27,836 miles and 1348 hours. It has 1250 GPM pump and a 500-gallon tank. All pump and Ladder certifications are current. Well maintained and has all the original manuals and paperwork.

If you put in a decent bid for this, you would get a heck of a deal on a firetruck.

How do I put a bid in?

The City of Camanche says that sealed bids may be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk, (818 7th Avenue) through 4:00 p.m. on April 18th, 2023. Bids will be opened and considered at the city council meeting at 6:00 p.m. that evening.

If you want to take a look, trucks may be inspected at the Camanche Fire Department (720 9th Avenue) during the week between 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Vehicles are sold “as is” with no warranty expressed or implied. The successful bidder must make payment in full within 7 days of the notice of bid acceptance. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
