According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, we should expect a change to much colder weather as we head into the Christmas holiday and past it.

The 8-14 day outlook map is favoring a high chance for below-normal temperatures throughout the Quad Cities and the region.

According to The Weather Channel, highs are going to significantly drop a few days before Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022.

The Weather Channel is predicting that our last "warm" day before this cold snap is going to be Wednesday, Dec. 21st. The high for that day is looking like 29° but things are going to get cold that night as lows reach into the single digits.

Thursday, Dec. 22nd is when we're going to start seeing really cold highs. Thursday's high right now is going to be in the mid to low teens and stay that way all the way through Christmas. Lows are going to reach into the low single digits and even down to 0° some nights.

Many people enjoy the snow on the ground as they celebrate Christmas or other holidays. The "good" news is that there are chances for some snow ahead of Christmas and mixed with the cold weather, this could set us up for a white Christmas.

The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities only extends out 7 days at a time. As of Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, the NWS is predicting chances of snow each day starting on Thursday, Dec. 15 through Saturday, Dec. 17.

The Weather Channel's 10-day forecast shows us all the way up to Christmas and a little bit past. On Wednesday, Dec. 21st, there is a 50% chance of snow in the afternoon but that is subject to change.
