Yep, America’s Worst City For Traffic Is Right Here In Illinois
Illinois is home to the worst American city for traffic. Drivers spend way more time sitting in congestion than anywhere else in the country.
Looky there, another list that makes Illinois look absolutely horrible. Go figure!
Sitting in traffic is the worst, especially when you have to be somewhere. That's why I always leave early if I'm headed to any tourist towns in Illinois.
The Worst American City For Traffic Is Right Here In Illinois
Before we find out who took the lead, let's talk about the cities that came in second and third in America.
According to INRIX, drivers in Boston, Massachusetts lose nearly 134 hours just sitting in traffic. Sounds terrible. They came in #2.
Sweeping the board at #3? New York, New York. They lose 117 hours per year.
Honestly, doesn't surprise me with how giant these cities are.
TAKING THE LEAD IN FIRST PLACE..... *Drum rollllllll*
Chicago, Illinois is America's Most Congested City For Traffic
The average Chicago driver loses 155 hours in traffic. Now it makes sense why people are always commuting to work an extra hour or two early.
Plus, more people returned to work over the last two years, so there was a 49% increase in wait time since 2021. That SUCKS!
Luckily, Chicago didn't come in first in the world. They left it to London to take the crown for that spot with 156 hours racked up. Couldn't be me... thankfully I live right down the street from my job.
