As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change event plans, our summer runs are also starting to change how they will be run.

The Bix 7 announced their virtual run and now, the Genesis Firecracker Run is transitioning to an all-virtual race in 2020.

The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has led race officials to make the decision.

“You train hard, and the excitement and tradition of the Genesis Firecracker Run each year is one we all eagerly anticipate. So it is with heavy hearts that I, along with the race committee, have made the very difficult decision to transition this year’s event to an all-virtual race. While we prefer an on-site race, we must recognize the severity and uncertainty of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that continues to be reinforced by the CDC, Department of Health, local authorities, and our medical director.”

With the health and safety of all participants, spectators, and volunteers at the forefront of the decision, the Genesis Firecracker Run will go fully virtual in 2020. All registered runners will automatically be enrolled into the 2020 Genesis Firecracker Run, so no action is required.

Virtual runners and walkers will receive an official Genesis Firecracker Run race tee, along with a race medal and race bib. And, as a special thanks for supporting the 38th Annual Genesis Firecracker Run, all of this year’s race participants will receive an early-bird special rate off of next year’s entry. A code will be supplied to each of the registered runners via email after the race this year.

Fun challenges and contests along with specific details of the virtual event will be unveiled shortly to all the participants as they work to complete their virtual run by July 4th, 2020. To register go to www.firecrackerrun.com.
