East Moline’s Firecracker Run Is Celebrating 40 Years Of Running
There are things we consider traditions to celebrate America's birthday in the Quad Cities. Some of those things include watching fireworks, going to pool parties, boating on the Mississippi River, eating hotdogs and hamburgers, and even running a race. The Firecracker Run in East Moline has been a tradition for many runners in the Quad Cities and this year, runners will celebrate 40 years of running during Independence Day weekend in East Moline.
The Genesis Firecracker Run in East Moline is celebrating a big milestone in 2022. This year, it will be the Firecracker Run's 40th birthday and as we get closer to the start of the 40th running, officials announce that registration for all of the races is now open.
In a social media post on Tuesday, the City of East Moline announced that the 40th anniversary of the Genesis Firecracker Run is now taking registrations. The 40th running of the Firecracker Run is taking place on Independence Day, Monday, July 4th, 2022.
Whether you plan to walk or run this year, you can select from one of these race options to participate in:
- 5K
- 10K
- 5K & 10K Red Dress Division
- Kiddie Run
- IMEG Mile (1-Mile Run)
- Aquent Hospital Bed Race
- Guns ‘N’ Hoses Challenge
