Question One: Who are you?

I'm Josh, a musician, a veteran, and, most importantly, a dad to four awesome daughters. I grew up on bands like Tool and Alice in Chains, but my real musical education is happening right now, thanks to my kids. This hour is all about that mix – the heavy stuff that shaped me, and the new generation of rock and pop that they're forcing me to love. It's the soundtrack to our family.

Question Two: Why do you love hard rock?

For me, it started with the musicianship. As a musician myself, I was just blown away by the skill and complexity in bands like Tool. But as I've gotten older, I love hard rock because it’s so honest. It isn’t afraid to be loud and aggressive, but it can also be incredibly vulnerable and emotional, like on a track like 'Nutshell.' It’s the soundtrack for getting through the tough stuff and celebrating the good times. Now, sharing it with my kids, I see that power connecting with them, too. It’s a genre that has a ton of heart and isn’t afraid to show it.

Question Three: Who is your favorite band/artist?

Man, that's the impossible question. But if I have to plant a flag, I'm planting it with Tool. For me, no other band combines that level of mind-bending musicianship with that much raw power and mystery. Every song is an epic journey. Of course, bands like Deftones and Nine Inch Nails are right up there on my Mount Rushmore, but Tool is the one I can always come back to and still discover something new.

Question Four: What is the best concert you've ever seen?

I've been lucky to see a lot of incredible shows, but the best concert I've ever seen happened just recently. I took my daughter, Marley, to see Deftones in Chicago. They're one of my all-time favorite bands, and they put on an amazing show. But the best part was seeing it through her eyes—watching her get just as stoked for a band I've loved for years. Sharing that experience with her is a memory that tops them all. It’s everything I love about music, just passing that energy on.
