Earlier this year, Midwest Living, named Iowa's Lake Okoboji one of the "25 Coolest Midwest Lake Vacation Spots." The area is home to all sorts of fun summer activities, including free concerts, waterfront bars and restaurants, mini-golf, an amusement park, ferry rides, a drive-in movie theatre, and more.

Thanks to the website Only in Your State, we now know of yet ANOTHER amazing summer activity in Lake Okoboji... party cruises!

Okoboji Boat Works is a company that has been offering fun cruises in the area for a very long time. They have a variety of different boats that you can take a ride on, but one of the most popular ones seems to be one called the Fish House. According to the Okoboji Boat Works website, the Fish House is Okoboji's BIGGEST cruise vessel, holding up to 120 guests. The 75-foot-long boat features a full bar, three bathrooms, and both covered and uncovered portions.

The Fish House can be booked for private events, but it's also used for Shake the Lake cruises on Saturday afternoons. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., adults 21 and older can spend four hours floating on the lake with drinks and a live DJ. You can tell it's a popular event by the fact that most of the dates for this summer are already totally booked up! Tickets are $44 per person.

When it's not cruising, the Fish House is stationed over at Okoboji Boat Works Marina and is open to the public for drinks, snacks, and fishing.

Another popular party cruise you can take through Okoboji Boat Works is the Millers Bay Yacht Party. You can hop on the Diamond Lady on Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to enjoy some drinks and a "high-energy dance party" with a live DJ. The Millers Bay Yacht Party can have up to 60 guests, so it's a bit smaller than the Fish House, but it still looks like a good time!

If you'd rather book a private day on the water with your friends and family, there are plenty of options for that, too! Nine different boats are available to rent, including a tiki barge called the Kon-Tiki. It comes with a full bar and bartender, two bathrooms, seating, a music hook-up, and a driver, and it can hold up to 70 passengers! You can see all the private cruise options through Okoboji Boat Works HERE.
