Showcase Of The Quad Cities Top Youth Talent At Music & Arts Festival
The QC Rock Academy is known for hosting events across town, especially at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island. They are fantastic free nights of music where we get to watch the future of rock in the Quad Cities.
Now they are back at it with a day and night bigger and better than ever on September 17th for their first Quad Cities Youth Music & Arts Festival.
Quad Cities Rock Academy Bands
While the lineup of music for the Rock Academy is not set yet, the youth bands will perform songs you know from numerous genres of rock. You'll get some heavy stuff with covers from bands like RATM, Drowning Pool, Sepultura, and Deftones. Then other bands will cover the softer side of rock and of course, the Classic Rock tunes everyone knows. It's something for everyone with bands that include:
- Crushed Monkey
- Sleepyhead
- Company Dime
- Made Ya Look
- Anthropoid
- And many more bands and solo performances
Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island
Hard to say, easy to find. The park is located on 1st and 17th street in Rock Island with plenty of parking at the park or across the street between 17th and 18th. (Across from our friends at Blue Cat Brewing Company)
It's a great park with a perfect bandshell and grass to enjoy the show. Plus, there is playground equipment on the other side of the park if the little ones get restless. Plus, the Rock Island Parks Department is always there grilling up food, and don't forget the drinks! Radical Effect Brewerks is one of the sponsors. So you know there will be drinks ready for you on a Saturday night.
On a nice night, you can't beat views like this while the rock youth of the QC plays for you.
Not just music, but art as well.
The QC Rock Academy is partnering with other local youth art programs for a showcase of the area’s top talent in music, theater, dance, visual arts, and more. In addition to the great QC Rock Academy bands there will also be:
- Dynamic Status Gems (dance group)
- Spotlight Theater
- Miss Iowa Youth Programs
- Midwest Writing Center
- Liyah York (15) - Live Drawing
- Edy Myers - Digital Art
- Jennifer Myers - jewelry, handcrafted artwork
- And more!
