We are all busy in life.  So taking the time to read an entire story is difficult.  However, if you are going to take the time to comment on a story...you should probably make sure you read it first.  That is clearly a problem.  And one that shows no signs of getting better.

"New Study Claims Illinois Is More Attractive Than Iowa"

That was the headline of the story.  It was a pretty generic headline that could take the actual content of the story in a lot of directions.

Yeah, it was a pretty dumb story and even dumber "criteria" that they used to do the study.  The criteria to determine every state in America's attractiveness:

  • Interest in hair, clothes, and other grooming
  • Obesity rates
  • Percent of residents who are physically active
  • Average Income
  • STD rates

And if more people would have actually read the story, maybe all the dumb people commenting on the B100 and 97X Facebook pages would not be called dumb today.

Let's look at some of the best, of the worst.

Hey, look, right from the start somebody talking about the actual state and not what the story is about.  But Tim came in and tried to tell him what the story was about, only to be told to shut up because they wanted to turn the dumb post about looks on a pop radio station into a debate on politics.

Democrats.  Taxes.  Restaurants.  Gun Battles.  All right on the topic of how good-looking the people of each state are.

Whoever they talked to?  Well Dan, if you read the story you would see it's all based on stats and has nothing to do with talking to anybody.  And Lee chimes in with "Iowa is flat".  Maybe he likes those d cups, so ok.

Hey, look!  Sean actually read the thing...and then got blasted for it.

This is the greatest comment.  Clearly, Eric actually read the post and went with the self-deprecating humor.  Eric, good job!

B100 "readers" aren't the only ones not to read the story.

OK, you might be thinking "well yeah, but those are the pop trolls that live the "TLDR" life.  Not so fast.  Let's look at some of the fine selections from 97X.

We get started with Matthew and Robert just going right into political mode.  But maybe some hope from Marti thinking if Iowa is unattractive people won't move in...maybe?  But oh...keep looking.

WITAF is happening here.  Lincoln?  Politicians?  Fake news?  Business?  What does any of that have to do with the story?  Oh, absolutely nothing.  But they didn't read the actual story.

The hits...just continue.  You know at first it made me angry.  Then it made me laugh.  Now, it's actually making me a little sad.

But...it...just...huh...wtf was this story about again?

Bob...it wasn't an f'n survey.  But again, you didn't read the story.  And Frank...well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are looking for some larger chested...no, I know where you are going and you didn't read it either.

Who is the dumbass that did this study?  Well Matthew, if you would have read the story you would have found out.  Cause you know, it's in the story.  But Dean has it figured out, Satan Worshipers!  Hey, maybe some of them are good-looking too.

If you would like to add to the insanity of either post or set any of them straight...actually, no, f it.  It's more fun to just troll and add to the madness.  Here is the post from 97X and below is the B100 post.  Go get 'em.
