Public pools can temporarily close for any number of reasons but one in Moline isn't open today (Monday) because of a number two.

It's the Riverside Family Aquatic Center. The "diarrhea incident", as the post calls it, happened late last night.

The post, and it's ability to be straightforward, says that now is the time to treat the water after the incident and ensure that folks can swim safely.

The pool already wasn't set to be open tomorrow due to limited summer hours but they're going to open up on Wednesday.

So according to the CDC, if someone is in a pool and gets diarrhea, someone else could get sick just by accidentally swallowing even a small amount of contaminated water. Diarrhea is apparently the most common illness reported for outbreaks linked to pools. There's your fun fact of the day.

Parents, it's recommended that you take kids on bathroom breaks regularly and do diaper changes every hour. And obviously don't let your kid swim if they're sick with diarrhea.

I love the CDC's recommendation to not poop in the water of a swimming pool. Wasn't planning on it but k.

Hey even if it's a crappy situation, you gotta give props to the Moline Parks & Rec Department for transparency here. They let us know exactly what's going on.

If you're thinking: wait don't filters and chemicals in the pool help curtail this stuff? The CDC says they can help kill most germs but some germs are hard to kill.
