The first rock band to play Vibrant Arena at The Mark.
When Queensryche and Judas Priest take the stage in Moline they will be the first rock/metal band to play the newly named Vibrant Arena at The Mark. (Get out of here with your REO Speedwagon/Styx show...I said rock/metal)
Did you miss it? The Mark is back! Kind of. As of September 1st, The TaxSlayer Center is no more. It will now be called Vibrant Arena at The Mark.
Looking at the TaxSlayer Center website there will be a "soft rock, arena rock" show with that REO/Styx show. Then a taco fest. Then a country show. Then a comedian. Then, finally, on October 29, a heavy metal/hard rock show with the 50 Heavy Metal Years tour rocking the Vibrant Arena at The Mark.
History in the making. A look back at The Mark.
According to concertarchives.org the first show every at The Mark was May 29, 1993 with Neil Diamond.
Then on Jyune 20, 1993 came Billy Ray Cyrus. And really for years after that The Mark kept things either classy or country with their shows. Until on January 19, 1995 when they opened the doors for Nine Inch Nails and the Jim Rose Circus.
Now here we are 27 years later coming off a spring of Tool, Korn and Slipknot...and still looking for more.
A fitting way to start the new and old.
Judas Priest has been rocking for 50 years making it a fitting way to welcome in the new old name of the venue. Since so many people never stopped calling it The Mark. So it makes sense the first rock/metal show back isn't something from the last 5-10 years, but from 50 years ago.
They've sold over 50 million albums, won numerous awards and in 2022 were FINALLY inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And now, Judas Priest is bringing 50 Metal Years to the Quad Cities to start our new era of rock at the Vibrant Arena at The Mark.
