Bettendorf won't go another year without a community pool.

The Landing project continues in Bettendorf. Late last year, their new outdoor ice rink made it's debut. Now, in the former Splash Landing location, YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley has announced it's new waterpark is going to open soon at 2255 Middle Road.

The new area (The Landing Aquatic Center) has a 12,500 square foot activity pool, a 3-story-high slide tower that features 3 slides, a 430-foot-long lazy river, and a 3,700 square foot splash pad.

Now, we're just mere weeks away from the start of pool season. The Y posted a preview video on their Facebook of the new setup:

The new waterpark will open on Saturday, May 24th. They will be open daily 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Admission to the waterpark is included with YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley membership, or at the door, it's $8 for youth, $14 for adult, and $20 for family.

The Y will also offer outdoor swim lessons at the new facility.

It's been a waiting game for the waterpark and revamped Splash Landing. The initial goal was to open the new aquatic facility last May. but because of delays involving state permits and supply chain issues, the opening date had to be pushed back. In May 2024, the new waterpark would have to open in July 2024. But staff said that's too late to start a safe pool season.

While Memorial Day weekend will mark the opening weekend for the new facility, there's no word yet on when pool season at The Landing Aquatic Center will end.
