What’s Open On Halloween In The Quad Cities?
The spookiest of days is tomorrow and it's time to plan your week.
This is a time of the year where stuff can close or have shortened hours for holidays and you may not know it. Just Saturday, one of my friends tried to make it to Spirit Halloween late at night, thought it was open later than it was, and she barely didn't make it in time to get a witch hat.
Since it's Monday, we're trying to plan out our week. Are there any closures you need to know about as you're figuring out how to budget your time? Let's discuss.
Spirit Halloween's Halloween Hours
Starting with the most obvious for festivity procrastinators- Spirit Halloween. According to Spirit Davenport's website, they will be open 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. on Halloween.
Banks & Post Offices
While it would be dandy as candy if we could all get out of work on Halloween, that's not the case. Banks and post offices will be open like normal with regular hours, according to the Des Moines Register. But post offices will be closed a week from Thursday (the day before Veterans' Day)
Fast Food & Chain Stores
Another good bit of news for procrastinators is that most stores (including Walmart, Costco, Walgreens, CVS, Home Depot & Lowes) are open on Halloween. So if you did a fantastic job not getting Halloween candy yet, you can pick some up tomorrow before the little goblins get out.
The "Closures" You Should Prepare For
I don't know that they'll be closed formally, but it might be a good idea to plan an alternate route tomorrow night for wherever you're going, whether that be home, a Halloween party, or if your kid has practice. Some streets are heavier with trick-or-treaters than others and they can clog up the road. Remember, these kids have had sugar. They can go bananas.
