One of Iowa’s Best Burgers is Topped With Cheese Curds
If you ask the Iowa Beef Industry Council, they'll tell you that JJ’s Tavern + Grill in Ankeny has 2024's best burger in Iowa. But, Love Food has a different pick! "Based on genuine user reviews, awards, accolades, and the first-hand experience of our well-traveled (and well-fed) team," Love Food selected 'The Dominie' as Iowa's best cheeseburger!
The Dominie is a creation from DutchFix, located at 621 Franklin Street in Pella. According to the restaurant's website, the Dominie consists of double fresh ground patties, double cheese, double bacon, Dutch-spiced beef, mayo, homemade pickles, and melted gouda curds. DutchFix's Facebook page says that it has over 100 grams of protein! The Dominie was named after Dominie Hendrik Peter Scholte, the founder of Pella.
Burgers aren't the only thing available at DutchFix. The restaurant also offers Dutch favorites like Poffertjes (small, fluffy pancakes made with yeast and buckwheat flour), Stroopwafel (a Dutch caramel waffle sandwich), Oliebollen (fried, sweet dumplings rolled in cinnamon and sugar), and a variety of loaded Frites (thick-cut Dutch fries).
