On Wednesday, Gov. Reynolds announced in a press conference that she is easing more restrictions across all 99 counties in the state of Iowa.

Effective this Friday, May 15th, all restrictions that are currently lifted in the 77 counties, will be extended statewide to all 99 counties.

Her new proclamation allows restaurants, fitness centers, salons, barber shops, and massage therapy locations to reopen statewide. These businesses will need to enforce capacity restrictions and institute other health measures and guidelines that are put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).

With this new proclamation and order, businesses that will continue to remain closed are:

  • Bars
  • Theaters
  • Casinos and gaming facilities:
  • Senior citizen centers and adult daycare facilities
  • Bingo halls
  • Bowling alleys
  • Pool halls
  • Arcades
  • Amusement parks
  • Museums
  • Aquariums
  • Zoos
  • Skating rinks and skate parks
  • Playgrounds
  • Swimming pools
  • Door-to-door sales

Social, community, recreational, leisure, and sporting gatherings and events of more than 10 people will also continue to be prohibited at all locations and venues. This includes but is not limited to parades, festivals, conventions, and fundraisers. This is extended until 11:59 p.m. on May 27, 2020. Wedding receptions are also restricted to 10 people or less.
