A recent study by Zutobi, an online Driver Education resource, lists cell phone use as the most common cause of distracted driving, followed by other distractions like eating or drinking.

What are the Statistics for Distracted Driving in Illinois?
That same study shows in 2021 alone, Illinois reported an astonishing 215 crashes caused by distracted driving. Even worse, 16% of all fatal crashes in the state were due to distracted driving.
Those statistics are alarming and eye-opening in regard to the need for drivers to pay more attention to the road and avoid distractions.
