The East Moline police department is asking for the public's help as it is actively investigating a homicide.

On January 23rd, East Moline Police Officers were dispatched to 1126 15th Avenue Apt. #3 East Moline, for a welfare check regarding the resident not showing up for work.

Officers located a deceased white female in the apartment with injuries consistent with stab wounds. The female appeared to have been deceased for a period of a few days before discovery.

The East Moline Police Department's investigations division immediately responded and began a homicide investigation into this incident. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene and collect evidence. A Deputy Coroner from the Rock Island County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.

The Rock Island County Coroner has identified the deceased female as 56-year-old Bonnie L. Smith, who resided at this residence in East Moline.  An autopsy is scheduled for today.

 

This appears to be an isolated incident, and the investigation into this incident continues. More information will be released as it becomes available.
