Donnell might be known as Ashy Larry to some, but he's just working to give people a laugh and escape.
Donnell Is Unfiltered And Ready To Bring The Funny To The Quad Cities
"I'm unfiltred, unhinged...ok, some people say I crash out sometimes, but I won't crash out. I'm going to keep it cool and have a good time.", says Donnell. He said, "By no means am I squeaky clean, but I'm not crazy super blue."
Every comedian is a storyteller. But what kind of story will they tell? Donnell says he has stories about life, current topics, and a bit of observational humor. Donnel says, "Sometimes a joke can be too soon, but it can never be too soon for a funny observation."
From Airman To Chappelle's Show
Donnell was in the Air Force before turning to comedy. Many people are glad he turned to comedy for some of the great moments he gave us in Chappelle's Show.
"We did that show about 20 years ago, and I've done things before or after, and it doesn't matter what I do, it's Ashy Larry."
For those of you who don't know or remember Ashy Larry, let's remind you with his appearance at 1:15 in the video.
Donnel said he has so many good memories from Chappelle's show, and two decades later, he's happy and proud to be a part of it. Donnell said, "I was lucky to work with Dave and Neal (Brennan), two guys who trusted me as a comic."
You might also recognize Donnell from his time on "The Wire". So yeah, Donnell has been on some big shows with his time in entertainment.

We also talked about inspiration, having to be the funny guy in your family...even during funerals, and we got a bit, just a bit, of his signature catch phrase. You can catch the full catch phrase when he comes to the Adler Theatre on November 13.
