No Canadian Pacific Holiday Train In The Quad Cities This Year

For the second straight year, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will remain parked. Canadian Pacific announced that the popular train will remain stationed for the holiday season, but they will still hold a virtual concert and continue to raise money for food banks along their network.

The popular Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will not be rolling through Davenport or Muscatine this year. Instead, they will host a virtual concert and donate to local food banks in communities across its network for the Holiday Train program's 23^rd year.

Since its inception in 1999, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has raised $19.4 million and collected 4.9 million pounds of food for community food banks along with their network. Canadian Pacific will again donate to all food banks that would ordinarily benefit from a Holiday Train stop, including those that typically receive the train in alternating years.

Keith Creel, CP President and Chief Executive Officer, said in the press release,

"The spirit of the Holiday Train is about giving generously and inspiring those around us to give as well. While we are disappointed we again cannot bring the Holiday Train to communities, we are honored to run a virtual program and continue to support communities and food banks across our network as they work to address food insecurity in North America."

Live music has always been part of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train tradition and that will not change this year. To maintain that tradition, Canadian Pacific will produce a virtual benefit concert, with details to be announced in the weeks ahead.

The Holiday Train has traditionally drawn thousands to Downtown Muscatine every two years to let residents and anyone wanting to see the popular train. Every two years, Muscatine has seen 14 railroad cars covered in lights and Christmas spirit travel through Muscatine and stop inside Riverside Park. Several food pantries in Muscatine and the surrounding area have been beneficiaries of financial and food donations when the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train comes to town.

Several news outlets site COVID-19 as the reason for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train not visiting towns in 2021.
