It was another wild week of food, drinks, rides, and music at the Mississippi Fair in Davenport, Iowa.  While we have to wait another year for the biggest party of the summer, we can already begin to look at who might be in the Quad Cities to rock with us in 2026.

The fair is August 4th through the 9th, and we already know the big name that will kick off Fair Week in 2026.  While it's not in the world of rock, it's a very big name.  Keith Urban will get things started in 2026.

Some people think, "Well, they spent all the money on him, so they have nothing left for anybody else good." Those people are wrong.  If the fair can book acts and sell tickets, they will spend more money to sell more tickets.  Which means, we can still get a big rock name at the 2026 MVF!

Who Won't Be At The 2026 Mississippi Valley Fair

There are some bands that you can take off the list right now.  This first group is the "too big for the fair" list.

  • Metallica - They are selling out stadiums at 80,000.  Not playing a fair at 20,000.
  • Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day...again, any band filling up a stadium, just take them off your wish list now.

Yeah...that would be cool.  But don't expect it to get that heavy at the Mississippi Valley Fair.  It's still families.  So you can take out Pantera, Lamb of God, Slipknot, and any pile of sticks bands.

Other bands might not be the right fit for the fair just because it's a fair.  Rage Against The Machine, System Of A Down, Muse, Evanescence...I think you get the point on why these types are out.

Remember, This Is The Grandstand of the Mississippi Valley Fair

We love local bands too.  And those bands have plenty of stages around the Mississippi Valley Fair to play.  But this is the Grandstand.  They have to fill the place with 20,000 people.  So again, the fair will be looking for big names that fit just right.

What Band Could Rock The 2026 Mississippi Valley Fair?

These 9 bands are on my shortlist and in order of odds to rock the 2026 MVF.

Bush

Inside info to start the list...Bush was actually on the list for possible in 2025, but the timing just didn't work out.  They would be a great fit.  Hits spanning 30 years, bringing in those from 20 to 60 to rock at the fair.

Chevelle

More inside info...Chevelle was on the list as well.  They have new music.  It's a short drive from the Chicagoland area where they live and would be a draw in the Quad Cities.  I do, however, think they'd need another name with them to really fill the grandstand.

Disturbed

One of the harder bands on the list...all sorts of cussing could be a problem for families (no mommy, don't do it again), but they could still work and crush it.  The only downside here is that Disturbed travels with a BIG stage show.  Would that work on the stage at the MVF?

It's been 4 years since they rocked the Mississippi Valley Fair.  So they could easily come back.  They still draw everywhere they go and are a perfect fit for what the fair wants.

Say what you will...they would once again crush at the fair.  The same with...

They have seen a massive resurgence and are selling out shows from coast to coast.  They could for sure pack the grandstand at the fair and take us all higher.

Breaking Benjamin

These last three really are the top three on the possible list.  Breaking Benjamin moved up my list as a possible band to rock the MVF.  Because they were on the short list for the fair in 2025.  If timing works, it could happen.

Volbeat has played a lot around the area, but not here.  That could change in 2026 with them coming to the fair.  How about them and Chevelle?  I'm in.

Papa Roach

For the second year in a row, I thought we were going to have them at the fair.  However, this year, they happened to be in Europe during the fair.  Makes it tough to pick up and fly back to Iowa.

Jacoby has family here.  We talked to him, and we know he wants to rock the Quad Cities.  Maybe in 2026, after 3 years of trying, we'll be able to get Papa Roach to bring it to the MVF.

Who Is Missing From The List that would be perfect for the MVF?

Korn.  I don't think it will happen.  I'd love it.  Korn at an Iowa fair where we all eat Corn.  Please let me market this!

I know Shawn and the team at the Mississippi Valley Fair are already working on making sure we have at least one night of hard rock.  When they have it ready, you'll hear about it from us first!
