5 of America's Most Irish Cities are here in Illinois

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner and there is no better place to celebrate the special day than Chicago, but Illinois' largest city is just one of the many Irish cities in the Land of Lincoln!

Obviously, St. Patrick's Day and Chicago are forever tied together, the parades, the dying of the river, and the week-long celebration the city has is second to none, but, Illinois has other cities with a lot of Irish heritage. Lawnstarter.com released a list called 2023's Most Irish Cities in America, Chicago is second on that list (no shock there), but Illinois actually has 5 cities in the top 100.

Chicago is second, Naperville is 11th on the list, Joliet comes in at 51st, Rockford is 68th, and Aurora is at 98th on the list. On the site they say...

"To mark Irish American Heritage Month, LawnStarter ranked 2023’s Most Irish Cities in America. We looked beyond green bloodlines — we also looked at access to Irish pubs, dance schools, and social groups among 10 total indicators of Irishness."

So which cities are the Most Irish? New York is first, Chicago second, then Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Denver, San Diego, Seattle, and Omaha round out the top 10, to see the complete list of the Most Irish Cities in America click here!

I used to live in Chicago for 5 years, and there were many things that the city would do that I hated (Lollapalooza, and the Air and Water Show for example) but the St. Patrick's Day celebration was always one of my favorites. I can't recommend it enough, spend a St. Paddy's Day weekend in Chicago one year, you won't regret it!
