As extremely warm temperatures arrive in the Quad Cities, the National Weather Service has upgraded our area from a Heat Advisory to an Excessive Heat Warning through Wednesday. Temperatures will be dangerously high on Tuesday and Wednesday prompting weather officials to upgrade the Quad Cities area to the warning.

The heat is officials here in the Quad Cities area. Yesterday, we told you that all of Iowa and Illinois were under a Heat Advisory. With the heat arriving, the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities has upgraded most counties in our area to an Excessive Heat Warning.

The National Weather Service and the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities have issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the following counties in the Quad Cities area:

The Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15th.

National Weather Service officials say that we can expect very hot temperatures to continue through Wednesday. The peak heat index values will be around 100° to 105°  are expected, with some portions of the area reaching heat index values of 110°. Lows will only drop to 75° to 80° not giving us much relief.

With those hot temperatures and high humidity, heat illness could occur which means you should drink plenty of fluids, stay in the air-conditioning, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

If you have young children and pets, make sure you check the backseat so as to not leave them in the backseat in the heat and unattended.

Officials say that you should take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Make sure you know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
