Want to take a trip back in time? Let's take a look at Quad City area TV commercials that used to air back in the 1980s. Keep in mind that's before high-definition TV, making some of these ads seem like they were shot on your grandpa's 8 mm home movie cam.

Some of these businesses are still around. Others maybe we wish were still here. It's funny to think the kids in this first spot are probably in their early 40s now. Let's take a look at First National Bank Quad Cities holiday spot from 1985.

I thought it was a commercial about baking cookies and with that music soundtrack, there's no doubt it came from 1985.

Remember when water beds were all the rage? The best place to get one was at Big Sur Waterbeds in Davenport. Here's their commercial from 1987.

I don't remember this next business in the Quad Cities, but if I had seen this commercial, I would have been one of their best customers. You have to love a business with a sense of humor.

Endorf's Appliance is no longer in business, but it was the predecessor to Zeglin's TV and Appliance which is still serving the Quad Cities. 

Here's a business that's been around more than 80 years and will still be here hopefully 80 more. K & K Hardware in Bettendorf. They also took a comical approach to promote their store.

This one comes back to us from 1990 for the area's metro system. The Citibus commercial plays on your emotions because the Quad Cities used to be a traffic nightmare.

I've saved the best for last. I mean when have you ever seen stop-motion toilets moving toward the finish line in the 'stool races?' I could watch this one over and over.

Every generation goes through this, I assume. Looking back at a more simple time where responsibilities haven't set in and life seems fun. Opportunities are endless.
