Great Memories Of Halloween In Illinois
I have many great memories of Halloween from growing up in Illinois. My friends and I would race home from school, throw on our costumes, and hit the streets for trick-or-treating. After several hours of going door-to-door, my bag would be overflowing with candy. Just about every house in my neighborhood would give out something. That's what the holiday was all about.
Nowadays Halloween Is Less About Neighborhood Trick Or Treating In Illinois
Halloween has changed quite a bit since I was a kid. Back then, we basically celebrated on the 31st and that was it. Now, there are festivities going on throughout the month of October. You can enjoy numerous other opportunities to go trick or treating besides in your neighborhood. Trunk-or-treating events are happening all over the city.
If you take a look at your block, you'll notice fewer porch lights on during Halloween. For whatever reason, more residents aren't handing out candy. Unfortunately, the number of trick-or-treaters has not decreased. In fact, last year we had the most ever and even ran out of goodies to pass out.
Expect Less Illinois Residents To Give Out Halloween Candy This Year
Be prepared if you've got kids going out trick-or-treating. Expect fewer houses in your neighborhood to give out candy. Everything is so expensive these days. That includes candy. People can't afford to spend lots of money on treats this year.
The cost of candy has risen 13.1% since last year.
It is the most significant single-year price jump ever.
