Veterans Wanted: Honor Tunnel Returns for Military Appreciation Night
One of the most unforgettable moments of the season is returning for Military Appreciation Night as local veterans and active military members take center stage in the team’s annual Honor Tunnel ceremony.
Nominate a veteran or active duty member who you believe deserves to be honored for their dedication to our great nation.
The Quad City Steamwheelers are saluting service members during their annual Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, June 28th, at the Vibrant Arena at The MARK. The team will face off against the Orlando Pirates with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 PM.
Veterans and Players Share the Spotlight During Emotional Pregame Tradition
Before kickoff, each selected veteran is paired with a football player for team introductions. As their names are announced, the player and veteran emerge from the tunnel side-by-side in front of a packed crowd.
Some pairs exchange elaborate handshakes. Others flex to the crowd, yell in excitement, or share a signature celebration before running together down the runway lined by the Deckmate Dancers.
A Pregame Entrance That Means More Every Year
The Honor Tunnel has grown into far more than a traditional player introduction. For many fans, players, and families, it has become one of the most emotional moments of the entire season.
The tradition is designed to celebrate the veterans, active military members, and local heroes who continue to inspire the community every day.
Community Asked to Nominate Local Heroes
The team is now encouraging fans to nominate veterans who deserve to be recognized during this year’s Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, June 28th at 3:00 pm.
Friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors can all submit nominations to help create another unforgettable Honor Tunnel experience.
For those involved, it is more than just a walk onto the field. It is a moment of recognition, celebration, and connection between players, veterans, and an entire community showing its appreciation together.
