Wisconsin Dubbed One of the Least Friendly States in America
Of all the states in America, I guess I never considered Wisconsin would be called one of the least friendly in the entire country.
I also didn't think it would receive a lower rank than Illinois.
Overall, Illinois is "OK to good" in the completely made-up Sweet Lenny scale of friendliness.
It gets dicey when you add Chicago to the mix though.
Either way, Illinois is ranked the 18th least friendly in America by Moneywise with a hilarious titled "rudeness score" of 46.13.
Seven spots further down, scoring a 56.82 in 11th overall, sits Wisconsin.
According to this study, Wisconsinites have poor etiquette when it comes to both driving and interacting with customer service employees.
They run stop signs 23% more frequently than average and are less likely to say “please” and “thank you” during phone conversations with businesses.
As a visiting Illinois guy to Wisconsin, I've had mostly positive experiences in America's Dairyland, so I was very surprised to see the poor rating.
Moneywise said the rudest city is Milwaukee, which is kind of funny because some of my best trips to Wisconsin usually include a stay in that city.
All told, Illinois and Wisconsin aren't really that bad when it comes to being rude.
According to the study, the least friendly state in America is New York. Anyone who's visited The Big Apple already knows that's a well-deserved honor.
With a rudeness score of 100.05, it's almost like New Yorkers are excited to be unfriendly.
