Baggie of Suspected Meth Sent Through Bank Tube Leads to Woodsfield Man’s Arrest
A 46-year-old guy in Ohio got arrested after he went to the drive-thru at his local bank and deposited DRUGS by mistake.
Crystal-Like Substance Found in Drive-Through System
A Woodsfield man is facing charges after deputies say a packet of suspected methamphetamine was mistakenly sent through a bank’s drive-through tube on December 3. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, employees discovered a crystal-like substance inside the container used for customer transactions. Field tests indicated the material appeared to be methamphetamine.
Investigators Identify Suspect
Deputies determined the baggie had been unintentionally sent during a routine transaction by 46-year-old Jason G. Smith. Officers with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources later located Smith in Wayne Township. With the assistance of K-9 Max, deputies searched his vehicle and found additional suspected drugs and related items. Smith was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail.
Sheriff’s Office Issues Public Reminder
Following the incident, the sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of safely handling illegal substances and noted that the items can be surrendered without penalty.
“Illegal drugs don’t belong in bank drive-throughs – but they can be turned in at the Sheriff’s Office. No charges, no handcuffs, just help,” officials said. “We’d much rather safely take them off the street than see another unexpected deposit.”
